spicy asian meatballs

super bowl sunday is only weeks away and everyone knows that football fans love hot spicy meatballs for their bowl parties.  here is a great recipe that i found online and used frozen turkey meatballs to make the dish a bit more health conscious.  if you have a favorite meatball recipe, start with that and bake your meatballs first until done.  during their baking time, whisk together this sauce recipe and use it as a dip for the meatballs on the side or do as i did, and pour the sauce over the meatballs during the last 10 minutes of baking time.

this technique warms the sauce for serving and presentation.  i garnished them with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

here is the recipe for the asian sauce:  mix the following ingredients together in a small bowl and use as directed in the above recipe.

2/3 cup hoisin sauce

1/4 cup rice vinegar

minced garlic to taste

2 tablespoons light soy sauce

1 teaspoon sesame oil  and 1 teaspoon ground ginger.

these spicy asian meatballs could also be served with rice as a light supper.
