recently i have found these peppers in my market. they have been available for a couple of months now, and i can’t resist purchasing them every time i go to the store. i have purchased small peppers in the past, but never in this type of packaging.
these peppers are a relatively new hybrid pepper that has been in the market only about 20 years. i like the small size of the product, which varies from about 1 inch to 3 inches at the most. the peppers are sweet and often used in asian cooking. in fact, i have seen these exact peppers in dishes served at P.F. Chang’s.
each bag is filled with a combination of red, yellow and orange peppers, which when stored in the refrigerator seem to last more than one week. these peppers are fat-free, high in vitamin C, and a nice source of fiber.
these peppers will allow anyone who is watching their calories to skip the chips and use these instead for any favorite appetizer dip. they hold their shape, and have the correct amount of crunch to accompany most recipes.
i have used the peppers in many stir-fry dishes and even for snacking. they are both tasty and healthy. i would almost say to use them instead of the traditional large red or yellow peppers. i find their shelf life better, especially when i only need a small amount of pepper for a certain dish. i use a couple of these smaller peppers and there are no leftover sections of pepper to store in the refrigerator.
try them and let me know what you think.
