ahhh, the fresh aroma of bread coming out of the bread maker — what a delight. even when i am trying to keep the carbohydrates at a minimum, how can anyone resist a slice of fresh bread? the molasses and light wheat flavor of this bread is superb.
i chose to make the 1 1/2 pound loaf and was totally happy with the outcome. the texture was perfect, and the tan color was so appealing. the slices were so tasty when toasted, served with a bit of honey.
to make this bread: place the following ingredients in a bread maker in this order.
1 1/2 teaspoons active dry bread yeast
2 1/2 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup whole-wheat flour
1 tablespoon butter ( i used margarine)
4 tablespoons molasses
3/4 cup warm milk (i used fat-free and gently warmed in the microwave)
2 1/2 ounces warm water (also warmed in the microwave)
process on the whole wheat cycle and after the second beep, i removed the bread paddle and added King Arthur flour’s artisan bread topping. delicious.
