today was a perfect day to learn something new. trapped inside on a snowy cold day, i decided to pull out my DVD player and watch this 29 minute presentation that was detailed and educational. the two sisters, hence the name, Flower Duet, have created a series of workshops where they teach floral arrangement techniques. this DVD is like attending one of those workshops, but even better.
the DVD begins with a field trip to the wholesale flower shop, which was quite informative. tips for choosing flowers including perennials, roses and even greenery were given with information on how to choose the best of the best at the market. after taking the flowers home, the two go through the proper conditioning steps to help maintain the flowers while on display.
other topics covered were how to physically arrange a table centerpiece, a bridal bouquet, and a tall bouquet. flower recipes are given with numbers of flower needed for each arrangement.
although i am an advanced master gardener, i found this DVD extremely informative. this would be good for garden club presentations or master gardener meetings, where flower arranging would be taught.
i would think that brides could use these detailed instructions and create their own bouquets. after watching this DVD, i plan to follow these two ladies on their Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/FlowerDuet
they also have a newsletter with information on how to purchase the DVD and other information. check it out at:
if you comment on this blog today, one random person will be able to receive a free copy of the DVD.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
