simple beer bread

there are many types of quick mixes on the market for breads.  i have never tried one for beer bread, because it is so easy to make at home without a quick mix.  with only four ingredients, you will have a tangy and sweet loaf of beer bread.  the bread is best sliced thin and then toasted.  at least that is the way we like it here in Michigan.

the bread bakes in a 350 degree oven for about 50 minutes.  some ovens will require 60 minutes, depending on the performance level of your appliance.  to make this recipe that i found at CopyKat.com:

preheat the oven to 350 degrees. prepare a 9 by 5 inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.  combine 3 cups of self-rising flour with 1/3 cup sugar.  mix well and then stir in 12 ounces of beer.  i used my hands to knead the dough into a ball.

place the dough into the ceramic baking pan and brush the top with some melted butter or margarine, about 2 tablespoons.

bake in the oven for 50 to 60 minutes until cooked through and browned on top.  this is a very tasty country-style bread.  it is not a bread for making sandwiches.  it is a rustic type of bread.

cool, slice and toast for serving.  this bread can be used with your appetizer buffet, along with your favorite spreads.
