even though we have a super efficient Kitchen Aid dishwasher, i always have some dishes to wash by hand. i am sure it is by habit, as my dishwasher has many options, including one for a gentle cycle. i just don’t take that chance. this past week, i was sent a really cute bamboo dish rack. i haven’t been using a dish rack for years, just a drying mat. so, this would be an opportunity to really test out the product for my blog. some of the best tips i have used over the years for hand washing dishes include: using great soap, very hot water, and never delay the process. by that i mean, clean off the dishes immediately and begin to either wash by hand or place into the dishwasher. knowing these rules, i would also add–using a good dish rack. this one is especially sturdy, attractive, and quite stylish. i like that it is constructed from bamboo and that it folds so nicely for storage. it is very compact and would fit into any of my cabinets. i also like that it is the perfect size for my countertop. it holds plates, bowls and mugs very easily. the style of the drying rack meets the function of the product, without resorting to a less than attractive material for construction. after looking at the product, i believe that it could also be used to hold cookbooks in the kitchen. it is a nice size for books and would support a small collection easily.
