it has been my goal to consume more water during these summer days. i had the opportunity to test out these new ice ball molds for a review on my blog. i decided to use some fruit and herbs to make the frozen spheres infused with flavor. i used a combination of strawberries with thyme, blueberries with basil, and raspberries with lemon slices.
i love flavored water, but prefer none with sugar or any additives. this product allows the water to gain the flavor infusion, over a period of time. since the ice balls are larger than cubes, the ice melts at a slower rate. the set come with three molds, which are very quality made. also included in the set of three spheres is a funnel, which allows for complete filling of the mold.
i simply placed the fruit and herbs inside the mold, closed the sphere, and added the water through the funnel. i froze the molds overnight, after placing in a cake pan. the next day, the best part of the process occurs. there were NO issues with unmolding the spheres. the top came off, and then the bottom of the mold. removal was very easy–no fighting with the mold, no additional water to unmold.
simply unmold and place in the glass. fill with water, and watch the chill begin. these ice balls are very cold and lasted for almost two hours in my glasses. the ice ball molds are made by StyloPhora and are available on amazon.com
