These past few weeks Disneyland Park in California has been in the news.  While reading many stories about the park, I happened across a Disney Family website with favorite park recipes.  These strawberry twists seem to be a favorite snack from Maurice’s Treat snack cart in the Fantasy Faire area.  I found them to be very easy to prepare and equally delicious. At the park, they also offer chocolate twists which would be easy to fashion at home as well with this technique.

To make the twists:

Gather these ingredients:  about 8-10 strawberries, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1/8 cup lemon juice, 1 sheet puff pastry thawed, and powdered sugar

Combine the strawberries, sugar and juice in a sauce pot on the stove and cook. I mashed the strawberries with a potato masher as they cooked. I allowed the mixture to boil, while stirring, at least 5 minutes. The mixture should thicken some.  Cool.  On a sheet plan, place the thawed puff pastry.

Cut the puff pastry into four equal sections.  I find by having smaller size twists, they did not break as easily.  Spread half of the pastry with the cooled strawberry mixture.  Place the other halves on top of the strawberry covered pastry.  Place in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to chill.

When out of the refrigerator, slice each half into 5 strips.  Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Twist the pastry gently so as not to have too much strawberry mixture leak out from the twist.

Bake for 20 minutes or until puffed and brown.  Cool and dust with powdered sugar.  I read that these are a favorite of many princesses.
